Into the wild of Alaska..
Recently I was in search of some non-fiction books to read. I have never read any book in that genre and something inside me wanted and I was searching for couple of days and finally found the book called "Into the Wild". Also found out that there was a film adoption in the same name and it was confusing to me whether to watch the movie or to read the book. Ultimately I chose to watch the movie and guess what? The movie was haunting me for a while and started listening to the original soundtracks over and over. Let me explicate about the movie. This is the best and most under-appreciated film. I absolutely loved everything about Into the Wild, most especially Emile Hirsch as Christopher McCandless who is amazing in his performance. This is a poignant, compelling narrative about Chris, an intelligent, intense, and idealistic young man, who cut off all his connections to his sister and parents. Through out his journey he meets lot of people and many of them offered their love and friendship to him, but he couldn't accept or reciprocate it. Something inside his soul is preventing him from truly giving the love and accepting it. Perhaps it would be adverse to the loner path that he'd chosen. He thinks that he might find rehabilitation in the wilds of Alaska. Among lot of people in his journey he meets an old man who also has a painful secret. The old man knows that Chris and he are two of a same kind and need each other. It's a hard moment for the viewer when Chris walks away from the old man abandoning another fortunate opportunity for healing his pain and happiness, but it is not so hard for him because his sole focus is on getting to his personal paradise that he understands and expects Alaska to be. This scene was so emotional and you should watch it for real. Both of them were so amazing in their performance. It was no wonder that you would be deeply moved to tears and filled with a fuller sense of compassion towards all. Finally he made it to Alaska and started to live his life in an abandoned bus. Alaska is beautiful but very challenging place which was superbly filmed and the narration were near perfect that you could easily understand to see how Chris would want to be there, challenging himself and trying hard to find himself ALONE. This is a deeply troubling story of someone who so needed help, was offered it many times, but would not or could not accept it because of his inner soul. At the end he realizes that "Happiness is only real when shared" but it was too late for him to come back to his normal life. He never returned from Alaska and he could manage himself for 113 days in the wild. According to his dairies that he had decided to return to civilization but a raging river full of spring melt prevented him from doing so. He couldn't find enough food to live and accidentally he ate a plant and that poisoned him. I can't believe that a real person have gone through all these in his life. It is a separate topic whether the path he has chosen is right or wrong. Keep that away and enjoy this wonderful movie. I also loved the original soundtrack Eddie Vedder and his songs "No Ceiling", "Society", "Hard Sun" and "Guaranteed" are my favorites. I bought the original book by Jon Krakauer. The movie was so true to the book and both were so fantastic.
