I LUV MY PHONE - Sony Ericsson w830i

I was looking for a new phone for some time now.I had a thought to buy a flip phone and i searched a lot and found 3 mobiles. I read all the available reviews in the net and finally i went to the shop and i were looking those phones. And suddenly the sales guy showed me this phone as a new model. I was totally stunned with its glamorous look. I had no thoughts other than buying this phone and i did. At that time it costs around 17,300. I bought this phone in march and till now the excitement is getting incresed everyday, and let me tell u why i really feel proud of this phone...

The phone with it curvy edges and lines looks stunning, both from a distance and when held in hands. The Greyish black colouring, with pearl like direction keys, stainless steel casing for the slide and tinge of organe all over makes the phone visually appealing. The ribbed rear of the phone, the speaker curve, the camera and the light all are aligned quite aesthetically. The Keypad are well built and placed, though the Walkman key in front is a bit problamatic,it gets pressed while tryin to move around in the menu. The back could have done better with a lens cover for the camera, anyway. The Screen is 262k colors... I luv the screen for its lustrous display.

As part of considering the features,the phone is loaded with hell a lot of features. The phone has very good reception and outgoing clarity. The bluetooth on the phone is pretty fast and communicates really well with all the other bluetooth equipments. The USB cable transfers data quickly. The best part in the phone is ,it identified only as a memory card and not as a smart phone. This way the computer does not require any special softwre for handling communications with the phone.

True to its name, the phone behaves like a perfect walkman. It carries an organge one touch key, which directly takes us to the walkman feature. In fact the phone can be used purely as a walkman, which turns of the radio in the phone. This way, no air-hostesss will ask us to switch off the phone in this mode. The walkman has 5 preset equalizers of which one equalizer is customizable. The Output is just stunning and clear. The head plugs cover our entire ear to ensure that we do not hear any outside disturbances while listening to the music. The walkman also has other options like, playlists, tracks etc. Being a Walkman phone, it stands up to it’s reputation of giving excellent sound quality.The loudspeaker is also clear but it’s not really loud.The bundled earphones r amazing. The MEGA BASS is really rockin and gives you a
great music. Also since this phone has the new (Walkman 2.0) version of the music player with album art. It’s also got a light effects option, which when turned on makes the lights on front go with the music.

The phone comes with three games, which are really good.The best entertainment component is the video player. The picture and sound quality of the video player is just stunning. I had stored two movies on the IGB memory card that i had got and enjoyed them on my train trip. Then we have the usual FM radio, sound recorder, music DJ etc. A uniqe feature that i noticed on the phone is the TRACK ID feature, wherein we can record a piece of music played on the radio to the phone. The phone supports, mp3, wma, and mp4 formats apart from MIDI and WAV. The phone has the themes option to toy around with the look and feel of the phone. Lots of theme
downloads are available from the net.

The 2MP camera gives clear pictures if taken from a reasonable distance. Shockingly, there is no zoom in the megapixel mode and is available only in the VGA mode. This apart, the camera has almost all Sony Cybershot camera features like burst mode, image mode options( color, b/w, sepia etc), flash light, timer etc. Must say that the camera is quite user friendly and easy to handle. Not many will notice the image browser hotkeys on the top of the display screen initially. The camera too has a hotkey for instant activation. The video recording is not impressive. It’s a 3gp recording which is not justifiable with a 2mp camera...could have better done with a
mpeg recording.

The battery life is really great. It doesn't matter whether you use it for talking or for music or fm. One can be rest assured of a long life.... For instance, i used it for ard 10 hrs for music n 2hrs for fm while on d move n even after tat i had over 40% battery remaming.

As a final verdict this is a great phone which has got the looks n features both pooled in together in a perfect blend... If you ignore the Video Recording, it has got no other cons as to me !!! I Love my phone !! :D
